Kind of. Fixing the blog has been much more complex than I originally thought it would, starting with the issue of not knowing where the hackers had gotten in. Because I couldn’t trace their entry point I had to make the hideous decision to wipe the site. Everything.
Now before you say ‘this is why we have backups’, I did. Unfortunately while I can be incredibly organised when it comes to work I’m not so organised about my blogging. I had backups of the posts, pages etc but not recent enough copies of the databases. I have a million and one backups of the theme because I’m religious about backing it up every time I mess with the thing. Which is very often. Could I find the latest one? No. They’re scattered across two computers and in the end I gave up.
So the posts should be the easy bit. Right? No. Do you know what WordPress does in the face of an XML file containing nine years of blogging? It chokes. Badly. No matter how much I increased the php memory I could not get that file to upload. I resorted to uploading to WordPress.com so I could separate it out but it was touch and go for a while whether even that would cope.
So the content is back now but everything else is a very big mess. Even TB’s bedroom doesn’t look this bad. Bear with me while I tidy up; nothing works, everything looks wrong and nothing is linked up as it should be. It’ll take a while but I’ll soon be looking and working better than ever.

Aw I’m so sad for you, I’m glad all the content is back but it’s so frustrating when things go wrong with websites, it can get so crazy going round in circles trying to work out what’s going wrong and why… I hope you can get it sorted soon! xxx
I’m trying to think of it as a challenge to be worked out. You know, something that strengthens my blogging skills.
I like it, always best to see the positive side! xxx
So glad you are back, I’ve been missing you!!!!
I’ve been missing you too – when are you lot coming down to see us?
