A couple of weeks ago I won tickets to see How to Train Your Dragon at the BFI IMAX thanks to the Polka Theatre. We booked for Monday but then that was a no go as half our family were in the hospital. Instead of Monday, today we headed up to Waterloo and the IMAX for an afternoon of making TB feel special.
We started with McDonalds, mainly because we didn’t have time for lunch before we left. It’s rather unnerving sitting eating at Waterloo. You can’t help but wonder when (not if) a pigeon’s gonna take a dump on your Big Mac. We were lucky.
I had my doubts about taking Mr A to the cinema but we’d totally forgotten to find someone to look after him until this morning and by that time it was too late. As it was, he behaved excellently. He fed, watched a little and then slept. I missed maybe ten minutes of the film trying to get him to sleep but it was a small price to pay. I did, however, manage to start killing my back by standing at the back of the cinema bouncing him to sleep.
Despite having already managed to see the film whilst at the mother in law’s last week, TB absolutely loved it. I’ve never seen a film in 3D before and it was definitely an experience. I’m not entirely sure I could get my head around all those dragons jumping out of the screen at me and may just stick to regular cinema in the future.
Having gotten out of the cinema just after 6 we decided we couldn’t face getting on the tube there and then. Instead we headed over to the park and seeing as it was such a lovely evening it turned out to be a good call. After Mr A’s first go on the swings we topped off the evening by taking a quick stop in the Namco Station for a game of air hockey before heading home.

I’m not sure I’d like 3D to be honest, I like my dragons safely in 2D where i can keep an eye on them.

I kept moving out of the way to dodge the objects that were flying out at me!
TB looks so much like his Father!! Fantastic photos! I think that’s so cool that you took Mr A with you! 3d films do scare me – I’m easily frightened! x

I think we’re going to have to make a habit of going to the baby screenings during the week now that we know he can behave.
Sounds like a great afternoon, though not sure how I would cope with dragons popping out all over the screen either. Boys both want to see the movie desperately…have a feeling I may just succumb!

I’m not sure I’d call it brave but it all worked out.
