When we were preparing for Mr A’s arrival we bought one pack of newborn size sleepsuits. We’d been given a few vests and that was it. We asked people not to buy newborn sized clothes for him; there was a good chance he was going to be a big baby and it didn’t seem worth putting him in one size clothes only to have to move up a few weeks later. It turned out to be a good call because at 4kg he wasn’t exactly a small baby and only two weeks after he was born we were putting those newborn clothes away.
But Mr A just kept on growing. At two months we did away with the 0-3 month clothes and moved on upwards. He was already the same size as TB was at three and a half months. Still, second babies are always bigger, right?
One of the 3-6 month outfits Mr A was wearing was a dungaree set with a long-sleeved vest. We put it on him yesterday but we just couldn’t get that vest done up. It’s already too small lengthways and very snug across. He’s only three and a half months old. It’s not just that particular outfit either; all of his 3-6 month outfits are getting rather small in both length and width. At least he’s proportioned well and not just abnormally fat or tall. But this does mean that only six weeks after we last invested in clothes, we’re going to have to consider buying more. They should have lasted him 12 weeks and he will wear them from as long as possible.
The other weekend the sister in law bought Mr A another dungaree set. I took one look at the 3-6 month size tag and groaned. My first stop after the school run the next day was to exchange it for the next size up. When we were in the supermarket the other week I bought a jumper (for when the late spring evenings are still a little chilly) and pyjamas, both 6-9 months. I put Mr A in a pair of those pyjamas that evening and whilst they’re a little long and baggy still, they’re the sort of fit those 3-6 month clothes should be on him.
The sister calls him a little buddha. It’s a term of affection really, but she’s probably right. When we were in the hospital only a month ago, Mr A weighed up at 6.4kg. Three weeks later he tipped the scales at over 7kg and I hate to think what new weight he’s reached now; we’ve already brought out all the 6-9 month clothes that were stashed in the drawer. Hefting him around now you can tell he’s heavy, not only does he feel it, his size says it all. Looks like he takes after his father and me then.

Deffo his Father!
But you do not resemble a buddha at all!!
xx
I think he is perfect

Well I think that he is just yummy and just want to eat him all up… maybe that explains my Buddha belly!

He does look rather edible…
Lovely picture! And a funny coincidence because I’ve blogged about big babies today! (but that’s about people who brag about big babies which you’re not doing by the way!). I think it’s sad when they grow out of their clothes so quickly. My second child grew very quickly and there were a couple of outfits he only wore once! *sob* I love those stripey trousers

I reckon stripes on babies are so cute! Not a look I could pull off myself though.
thats why I always send larger clothes
) and yes, he is scrummy!

He’s nearly big enough to fit the t-shirt you sent. Perfect timing for summer!
He’s gorgeous
He’s so gorgeous!
We have the opposite problem here. The boychild is 9 months next week and only just going into 6-9 month sleepsuits and vests.
