We’d picked up various samples of baby purees at events like the Baby Show and Cybermummy. They were sitting in our cupboard; after all, heading down the baby led weaning route we’d be unlikely to use them. My intention was to use them in cooking for Little Mister. They might be puree but surely something could be crafted from them.
Then one evening TB decided he wanted soup for dinner. We had none in the cupboard or freezer and although I had a bag of carrots in the fridge I was loathe to make soup that late in the evening.
And then I remembered all those Plum Baby pots in the cupboard. Two pots of spinach, parsnip and basil and a little water later I had soup and TB was happy. He insisted on adding a little salt, but then to a kid who’s used to adult food that was to be expected.
The next time I saw Plum baby in action was with the husband feeding Mr A. I’d given him some apple sticks but apparently that wasn’t enough. The husband sat down with a pot of spinach, parsnip and basil and Little Mister was wolfing the stuff down. Along with the apple. I would never dream of combining spinach and apple in my own diet but apparently when you’re six months old it makes sense. And tastes good.
So Plum Baby is a big hit in our house, especially now we’re not solely baby led weaning. We’re branching out to try some of the other products in the range with the spelt fingers being a firm favourite. All I had to do is keep them away from TB. After all, they’re Little Mister’s biscuits, not his.

We did BLW with our second batch of children, but we did use Plum products for puddings (I draw the line at eating fruit puree and yoghurts with fingers) and really rated them. You’re right – their biscuits are great!
I reckon TB would try!
