As a young baby, TB always hated to have a bath. He would scream from the moment you started undressing him until the moment it was all over. It was only once he was sitting unaided that he actually started to enjoy bath time. Mr A is the complete opposite. At around 7 every evening he starts to cry, then scream until you take him upstairs. Once he knows he’s getting in the bath he stops crying and starts making his happy baby noises with a smile on his face. Of course putting him in the bath is dangerous, for both me and the floor. Mr A kicks, and he kicks big. Water splashes everywhere, over me, the floor and anything anywhere near him. I’ve stopped laying his towel on the mat by the bath as it only gets soaked.
We decided that we should probably take Mr A swimming. TB didn’t try out the pool until he was almost a year old and by then he seemed to enjoy it. We hoped Mr A would feel right at home.
We went in the afternoon, carefully timed so Mr had just been fed. He looked rather unsure as he entered the water, as if he couldn’t make up his mind whether he should laugh or cry. I could understand that. Even though the training pool was warmer than the main one, it was still a good few degrees colder than his nightly baths.
Mr A soon got used to things and quickly started splashing around with a smile on his face. Meanwhile, TB was busy showing off. He’s been having swimming lessons since Christmas and has come on really well. It was the first time we’ve taken him swimming since then so between both boys it was a great moment for parental pride.
But it wasn’t to last. Before we knew it, Mr A was falling asleep in the husband’s arms. Whilst he was still in the pool. Knowing TB hadn’t had nearly enough time in the pool, I got out with Mr A. He was fast asleep all the while I was changing him with a contented look upon his face
The husband took the boys to the pool for TB’s lesson this week. He said that the moment Mr A set sight on the water his face lit up. It looks like we’ll be visiting the pool a lot more in the future.

Awww sounds lovely, Im shamed to say I have never taken my little man swimming *blush*

It’s a mammoth expedition but it’s definitely worth it!

It’s funny because Little Miss P has never really been keen on water. She was fine in the bath but the last few weeks she has been clinging on to us for dear life crying until we take her out. I took her swimming to try and break the pattern and although she didn’t cry she didn’t let go of me..mmmm. Theres me thinking because I swam everyday when pregnant she’d be a water baby!

Could just be a phase. If she was a boy I’d say she’d hit that point where showers are for wimps! lol
Awwww, lovely! My oldest loves anything to do with water, but my second was a different story. The little one is a cross between them, loves to swim but hates baths!

Yup, boys and baths don’t tend to mix. At least not with TB anyway.
Fab! We love the pool; even though the spud hated it for the first 2 years. Loved his bath, hated the pool.

I’d like the pool at lot more if it was the temperature of my bath. Even the baby pools seem just the wrong side of comfortable to me.
