The weather was so good on the weekend that it seemed a shame to waste it. We rooted out the remains of last year’s coal and dragged some meat out of the freezer. We checked the state of the barbecue and it wasn’t good. I guess we’d forgotten to clean it after we last used it. That might not even have been last year come to think of it. A lot of scrubbing work later and careful placement of an additional grill over the top and we were good to go.
Of course this wasn’t our first barbecue of the year. Past experience has shown that weather is no barrier a Brasilian cooking barbecue and we’d already had one back in February. But, there’s a difference between a barbecue at your mother in law’s with loads of people around, and an impromptu meal with the few of you.
Of course no barbecue is complete without marshmallows. TB was rather wary of toasting his own; we put a new bag of coal on the fire to toast them and the flames were leaping. In the end I gave up too and let the husband continue doing all of the cooking.
So summer has finally arrived. Here’s to many more barbecues this year.

I saw the mud on your blog. Definitely not BBQ weather yet.
We use to have a rule that our 1st BBQ of the year was my birthday (May 2nd) but in lifht of this recent weather we have changed that a little!!!

Gotta make the most of it while we can. For all we know it could be summer this week. Yes, just this week.
