They get everywhere. They’re over the floor, under the sofas, stuck between the cushions. They’re in the bath, hidden in kitchen cupboards, they’re over the stairs and even inside my bed. No matter how hard I try they just will not stay hidden.
That’s right; I’m talking about toys.
It’s fair to say we’re overrun with the things. The trouble is, I just can’t say no to more.
When we were packing up to move I intended to make TB sort through his toys, throw away the broken ones and cart the ones he didn’t play with any more to the charity shop. It didn’t happen that way because I got so far behind with the packing that even as we were loading the van I was still throwing stuff in boxes.
I tried again once we’d unpacked. Well, the thought was there. I didn’t get so far with the execution. TB was all excited about doing a car boot sale and using the proceeds to buy a new xbox game. Neither of us were too excited about the part where we actually had to sort the toys out. And so the toys have piled up and up and I’m no closer to getting rid of a single one.
Despite all the new toys that keep appearing TB has his firm favourites, like the Bakugan toys that he was bought years ago when they first came out: he’s never really worked out how to play the game and we’ve long since lost the instructions but they keep him quiet for hours. Or Ben 10 toys like the Omnitrix that’s lost its strap or the dressing up clothes that are now way too small for him. The kid hoards things like a disposophobic.
So now it’s time to start the clearout. I need to do it soon. Christmas is coming, it’s getting colder and our winter coats are in a box that’s covered in toys. Maybe once we’ve done a car boot sale and gotten rid of a load the boys can buy me a Christmas present. I’m in the mood for something expensive. Some Louboutins maybe.

Yep, I can honestly relate to this post – too many toys in this house too. Everywhere, even in the bathroom so Amy can play with her dolls in the bath!

I feel your pain. The bratlings managed to grab all the toys out of the Toy cupboard (one of two, and then there are 3 massive boxes in the living room too) in Chrissy’s room- I was away from them for no longer than 2 minutes while I made my bed. I have a pic on my camera, I’ll upload it! The toys are taking over, soon we will need an extra home just for the toys….
I love having a good old declutter! But I’m quite sad like that! I am a massive car booter though (am a pro at fending off the hawks when you first rock up!). You can make a good tidy sum too!
Have fun!
