So I put on 3/4 of a lb this week. I had, by all accounts, abandoned any dieting or plan following, and had maybe indulged in a few too many treats. I think with a combination of getting back to the gym this week (I made it there this morning) and being that bit more careful, I can keep things under control and start to lose again. It has to be said, I felt a lot happier not worrying about what I was eating.

I’ve been rather neglectful. Unfortunately spates of illness do that to you. In quite some time the longest run I’ve had of being healthy and well has been two weeks. It’s really getting me down. I can’t remember the last time I did more than two sessions in the gym in one week.
I had excellent intentions this week. Monday morning I would start back at the gym, I would go lots, I would exercise, I would be well. At V’s last night I just could not stop sneezing. Nor when I got home, or through the night and again this morning. I didn’t make it to the gym, I’m too scared of making things worse. I have a personal training session on Friday, and as I’ve cancelled a few due to illness recently I don’t want to miss it. I need to be well by then. I need to get back on track.
The thought of getting back on the weight watchers track this week, after so long of eating, not eating, eating the right things and eating the wrong things is rather daunting. I’ve decided to give it a week just being careful with what I eat; no great restrictions. I know what works, I know what doesn’t. I think a week of playing around with food ideas, and seeing just what of the foods I’ve been avoiding I can eat without too many weight issues arising, will be good for me. I wonder if the WW diet hasn’t been helping with my health. Mind you, neither has the return of the wispa.

So, after 2 and a half weeks of gym non-attendance** I finally felt well enough to return to the gym. Getting up at the required time was the first hurdle, and I just about cleared it. I just about managed to leave the house on time too. The journey in was trouble-free and quicker than I’ve ever known it and I arrived with plenty of time.
I headed for the cross-trainer and was suprised that I managed to start out on 40:60 (resting pace: working pace) at an RPM of low to mid 60s:high 80s to low 90s, but I went with it. By about three quarters of the way through I was struggling to keep the pace around 61:81 but I did at least make it to the end of 20 minutes and went past the 1.5km mark. Of course Y asked, when I called him, exactly what my distance was. Could I remember?
* or should that be ‘the gym bunny has bouncebackability’?
** because you can hardly count one miserable attempt in the middle
