Today’s Fingerfood theme is cocktail nails . Instead of just painting cocktail glasses on my nails, again (I did cocktails for the Crumpet Nail Tarts summer challenge back in 2012 and it wasn’t pretty) I decided I wanted to look a little deeper. Although I don’t tend to drink layered cocktails (if I bother to drink, give me a margarita and I’m happy) I love the look of them so decide to recreate the insides of the glass on my nails.
I started with a base of Barry M Matt White as I didn’t want China Glaze Sunshine Pop to do its usual and change the colour of every other polish I was using. Then I picked three colours for each nail and painted a gradient using a fan brush. I went a little China Glaze crazy and used Sunshine Pop, Cha Cha Cha, Sexy In The City, Adventure Red-y and Prey Tell. I don’t particularly like any of the gradients and for once think I would have been better of using a sponge. Ah well. To finish each nail I used a slice of Fimo fruit (I knew I’d eventually be able to use them somewhere!) and dipped the cuticle end of each nail into a pot of clear bullion beads. Because a cocktail glass has to be rimmed with either sugar or salt!
