Today I’m back with another essence polish, this time from the effect nail polish line. The Black Cat is a latex matt effect polish which gives a rather funky look. I used three coats and like yesterday’s swatch of I’m So Fluffy it seems to dry quickly (even though it doesn’t) so you need to work fast. While the formula of this polish is a good one it’s rather unforgiving once it’s dry so make sure to use a ridge filling base coat (or a regular one if you’re blessed enough to not suffer from the dreaded nail mountains) and keep your brush strokes straight.
To give you an idea of how the finish compares to other polishes I’ve done a quick comparison. The index and pinkie have just The Black Cat on them. On the middle and ring fingers I used one coat of HK Girl over the top and a coat of essence Satin Matt Top Coat on the index finger. As you can see, it’s more of a rubbery finish than the matte top coat but then again, what more would you expect from latex?
