It’s a disaster! No, not the nail polish (that’s rather nice actually, but we’ll be on to that in a minute). I mean my nails. They were lovely and long (you know that’s just how I like things) but not terribly healthy looking. Growing out the effects of sickness that you’ve long forgotten does not make for a happy nail time. Pretty much all ten nails were held together with a combination of silk, fibreglass, resin or sculpting gel and it was time to make the chop. So I finished all the swatching I had planned (coming up later this week) and did the deed. Back to nubs. Except I hadn’t finished. See what I mean about disaster! In all fairness, my nails don’t look anywhere near as bad in this picture as they do when I look at them in real life so you’re not getting the fully horrific effect.
The beauty that adorns my nubs is one of the new pastel shades from the essence I Love Trends collection, I’m So Fluffy. A funny name for a polish – I feel like it should resemble a bunny rabbit! The I Love Trends pastel shades are all matte and there is also an additional glitter. I’m So Fluffy is a good, staple, flat peach shade with no shimmer or funny stuff going on. It’s the sort of shade that you always know where you are with. It was opaque in three coats but I don’t think you could get away with two. The polish turns matte quite quickly and definitely before it’s anywhere near dry. Because of this I found that I needed to work quite quickly to get it laid down on the nail.
While I had essence on my fingertips I figured it would be a good opportunity to show you the Satin Matt Top Coat. Seeing as I was working on an already matte polish I popped a coat of HK Girl on all four fingers for a quick comparison. The middle and pinky fingers are glossy; the index has one coat of Satin Matt Top Coat, the ring finger two. I found that adding a second layer of the top coat did increase the matte effect slightly. The Satin Matt Topcoat has a more traditional matte effect than the pastel trends which are more of a rubbery matte.
