So, I run the risk of being accused as politically incorrect (as apparently the term is offensive to those with brain disorders) but I feel like there is a storm whirling through my head, running the risk of blowing everything away in it’s ferocity.
You see, since I decided to enter NaNoWriMo my thoughts have not stopped for a second. Every moment that is not being focussed elsewhere (like Twilight) is consumed with thoughts of how to make this novel work, how to pull a very random, and at best sketchy, idea together to form a solid story.
You see, that’s the trouble with dreams, they’re rarely a well-formed narrative when you wake up, and as the day goes by they fade. I’m working with a dream that’s years old, a dream that has little reason or explanation to it, a dream that it possibly now being coloured by the books I read and the TV I watch in the hope that it might lead to a conclusion to the story.
So, until I have a name for the blog that will chart this NaNoWriMo story I’ll thrash out my ideas here. Please bear with me, and if anything that might possibly be of use or inspiration comes to your mind, please let me know – I need all the help I can get.

If you’re going to do it in the form of a blog (a good idea) why not do it like an Adrian Mole type thing? I loved that as a kid. Or it could be like Bridget Jones’ Diary. It’s not going to be about you (I presume!) but it’s fun to let your imagination run wild. That way, you can write daily entries (like a blog) which people are more likely to read anyway – rather than writing a 50k story.
Just an idea! Good luck with it! Not sure whether I’ll do it or not. What with the impending new job I’m just not sure I’d be up to it.

To be honest, I’m just using the blog to write on – so I can work on it whether I’m at work, at home or with family (I do plan on becoming fully immersed and obsessed!). I figure that way people can read it as they go along if they so wish.
Hi, Glowstars, I think that you’re going to have a really awesome time doing this. It’s a whole lot of fun, it sounds so familiar, all the brainstorming in the last few days – I may blog about this too. Once you get going with it, things start to take more shape. You can get a lot of help from the forums too, there are loads of really helpful people, either for tips or for answers to the direct questions about facts/realism.
Hope you love it.

Thrash away! I think it’s fascinating and it’s nice to read another blogger who writes fantasy stuff. (I wrote a novelette over the summer about a post-apocalyptic world and a gay psychic boy, so I won’t be judge-y.)
I am doing NaNo this year too. I am happy to help you out if needed. It is a lot of fun. Most of the writers from Search Engine Stories do it and we all support one another. It’d be great to have you on board. The fantasy genre is a great one to write in, but I agree, there is a lot to sort out. It is amazing once you get into the swing of it though, how easily it all comes together. Good on you for giving it a go!

[Why would a person live in a glass tower?]
dunno about glasstower… but a Crystal one can hold energy? what about changing it?
[What would stop an area being inhabitable whilst rendering the area next to it completely safe?]
Radioactive contamination. Places like chernobil still produce certain types of plants, but are still impossible for humans to inhabit there. and it happens in pockets… so one place is inhabitable and right beside is ok…

[Is it too far-fetched to have vampires and magicians warring against one another?]
I can;t see why not? although u will have to consider that according to legend some vampires also use magic!
[Is there any way in which a vampire could procreate (as opposed to turning others into the undead)?]
In blade they can! but it has to be a pure blood or some’t like that…
[Would magic be enough to stop a vampire from dying in the sun, or is the sun thing just a myth? If magic would work, how much power would be required?]
I would go with sunscreen with a high UV factor… and sunglasses… hehehehe… Not tolerating sun is part of the curse… so… dunno…

I tried NaNoWriMo two years ago and failed miserably. It got too intense trying to keep the word count up every day. Good luck, that’s so cool.

I’m still very on the fence about doing it. I’ve got the basic idea – also from a dream & am just sitting and pondering. Good luck. And, vampire procreation? Have you read beyond Twilight yet? Cause that gets answered.

No idea on the others I’m a afraid
As to the questions, a vampire magician war sounds great. Edward Cullen can go out in the sun! Baby vampires, don’t see why not Angel did it and Stephanie Meyer did it, just think up a good reason why
