We’ve established that I don’t have a problem flashing around the biggest bazongas on the internet for the sake of Mr A. After all, it’s a bit like sitting next to someone eating a 1kg bar of dairy milk, only the baby version. But sometimes there is a need to cover up. I have no problems openly breastfeeding in front of strangers but I’m not entirely sure the dad and grandad would appreciate it and there are friends who I know have said in the past that women should ‘cover it up’. When I’m around those people I need a quick and easy solution to cover me up.
When Mr A was a week old I invested £1.99 in a market stall pashmina to throw over me but it was probably too big for the job and was fiddly. Having seen breastfeeding covers that loosely resembled a triangular sling, I knotted the pashmina up to get something similar. It worked really well in terms of coverage but it was difficult to get Mr A in and out of without getting him all caught up. Neither option was ideal as Mr A isn’t big on being covered when he’s feeding and it was tricky to get him latched on and re-latched every time he came off the breast in an attempt to get out from underneath the cover.
Freedom Babe sent me one of their Breastfeeding Covers to review. The 100% cotton breastfeeding cover creates a convenient, discreet and calm environment in which your baby can be breastfed when you’re out and about.
The Freedom Babe Breastfeeding Cover is simple. It’s an apron shaped cover that is much wider than a conventional kitchen apron so it covers your sides as well as front and can contain any flailing baby limbs. You slip the cover over your head, adjust the neck strap to raise or lower the neckline (although I’ve left mine set at a certain height) and get to work. The neck-line is semi-rigid allowing you to maintain eye contact with your baby and avoid unnecessary fumbling to get them latched on to the breast. I found that particular feature invaluable as it gives Mr A the illusion that he’s not actually enclosed underneath the cover. Perfect for claustrophobic babies! The cover also has a front pocket so no more stuffing your breast pad in your trouser pocket only to find you’ve lost it. Because the cover is machine washable you could also use it as a burp cloth in an emergency; I know I’m always forgetting to grab one before leaving the house.
The Freedom Babe Breastfeeding Cover currently comes in a range of five designs priced from £14.99 to £19.99. I chose a plain black one but you can also get spots, happy faces and flowers. I’d like to see a wider range of plain colours available purely because I’m not a patterns girl.
I’m thrilled with the Freedom Babe Breastfeeding Cover and can stop searching for that perfect solution to breastfeeding cover up now. With Freedom Babe we’re there.

Great idea, discreet too:) When I was feeding I didn’t give a toss what people thought, if my child needed feeding he got fed lol. It must be something to do with motherhood because I would never dream of going topless on a beach etc, I am waaaay to shy.
BTW, I got a lovely parcel in the post this week, thank you, lovely pen drive
