Find on
Beaten, drugged, and tied, I sink beneath the surface.
Water invades my mouth. It seeps down my throat and fills my lungs until breathing becomes a desperate memory.
My only hope are the three men who know the evil of my attacker.
If I make it through this, we can’t fail again. A murderer needs to be found. Caleb needs to pay for what he did to me.
He has another woman held hostage, bound, and gagged.
But she’s not the only one.
There are others who will befall the same fate as me if Caleb and his friends aren’t stopped. With the police in his pocket, there’s no one to save them but us.
Drowning gives a girl a lot of time to think about her revenge.
Until it becomes obsession.
Rebel Obsession is an adult #whychoose romance, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This book contains romantic suspense/dark themes that may trigger some readers. It contains a male/male storyline. It is the second book in an ongoing trilogy and cannot be read as a standalone. Book 1 of this series is Rebel Revenge.
Rebel Obsession - My Review
Let me start by saying that picking this book up the day after gynae surgery was not a smart plan. The brain may have been willing but what’s left of my reproductive organs could not cope with all that Rebel Obsession had to offer. Sure, some of the book gets a little steamy, but other parts are pure filth. Now I’m going to have to wait until I’ve recovered properly to go back and read it again, just to make sure I can enjoy it properly. And if you’re sitting there thinking “Oh, I know what an Elle Thorpe book is like”? No. You don’t. This is another level.
As you’d expect, the story jumps straight in from the cliffhanger we were left with at the end of Rebel Revenge. Yes, Rebel had been left in a precariously wet situation, but it was a given that she’d make it out alive. It would’ve made for a pretty miserable trilogy to lose the FMC at the end of the first book. Once she’s safe and well (or as safe and well as someone with Rebel’s unintentional reach can be) there’s a hell of a lot about to happen in this book.
How did we get here? Where I have multiple suspects for the person stalking me?
There was a lot of scene setting and moving characters into place during Rebel Revenge and that would prove to be very important work for the things to come in Rebel Obsession. Even with all that manoeuvring, there were still plenty of ‘Oh!’ moments and things that I hadn’t seen coming and things that I’m going to need explaining when I can finally read Rebel Heart.
Rebel is probably my favourite of Thorpe’s FMCs, and I love the way her thirst for revenge developed. Her approach was perfectly in keeping with the character we first met in the Saint View Psychos series. It gives me the warm and fuzzies that despite all the trauma she’s been through, she’s still true to herself and that Rebel freaking Kemp attitude.
I’ll admit that I tried to stop this book from ending. I read slowly because I knew there would be a killer cliffhanger and then I’d only be torturing myself while I waited another month for book 3 to release. The book did me dirty because one minute I was convinced I’d have another chapter or two read and the next I was dangling on the edge asking myself how the hell so much happened in the space of a few, short pages. Well, I know what happened. Elle Thorpe happened, and she does it every time. I don’t know why it surprises me anymore.
