The Ties We Break – My Review
When Emma Luna mentioned a kinky version of Beauty and the Beast I was desperate to get my hands on the story. You know, because Beauty falling in love with a furry wasn’t kinky enough already. This time around our Beast is Declan, a guy running an underground sex club for the Irish mob.
Now I’ve just revealed a key point there. Much of the story takes place in an underground sex club. Underground. While Declan has strived to run things above board and legally, don’t expect his actions to be sane, even if they are safe and consensual. His ‘legal’ sex club is not only allowing people to auction their time and sexual activities, but he allows a virgin to take part. Not only that, she’s a complete kink virgin too. Other than in the books she’s read it appears that her first discussion of any form of kink was the day she signed up for the auction. There’s nothing sane about Declan’s decision to allow Belle to participate, and the more you read of the story, the more you realise that in this instance, he’s totally led by his dick and his desire for Belle.

If you can choose to skate around that issue then you’re reading a devourable love story. You know the type where the alpha male will do anything to get his hands on the girl and she’s desperate for his touch but still manages to feel empowered by the opportunities he provides her. Despite there being no intercourse between Declan and Belle during the story, it has some incredibly steamy moments.
The first part of The Ties We Break is available as part of the Once Upon A Broken Crown anthology, however, the full novel of The Ties We Break will release in Spring 2022.
