The Accidental Summoning - My Review

Book review from Glowstars.net, 4 stars. Book cover: The Accidental Summoning by Leslie Ayla

The gang is back but, with the danger levels being lower than in The Girl In The Sequined Dress, this is a much more relaxed book. We get to see Dev, and then Fletcher and North taking Val out on dates (I’m rooting for a Scott date in the next book). The Accidental Summoning explains more about Dev’s background and how they ended up with this rag-tag band. Some of their family make a brief appearance in the book and I’m sure they’ll be back to cause conflict in the future. Val cements her kick-ass firecracker status when she stands up to her slimy ex, puts him in his place, and gives Dev’s dad a crash course in the correct usage of their pronouns.

I felt that the mystery in this book took a back seat in the storyline. I wasn’t compelled to find out who was responsible, and the gang didn’t really have a stake in the outcome. It does, however, provide a trigger for a shift in North’s power and the chance for some rumours to make their way to the gang. It sounds like something big is on the horizon and I’m eager to see how Val and her guys handle it.
